How BPSee Works

BPSee is designed to fit naturally into the way people already measure blood pressure at home.
It does not require a new blood pressure monitor or changes to an existing measurement routine. Instead, BPSee focuses on making it easier to build reliable long-term blood pressure records while keeping users in control of their own health data.
Whether readings are recognized from the live camera or from a previously taken photo, the workflow remains the same:
Measure → Review → Save → History

Measure your blood pressure exactly as you normally would.
Some people take a single measurement. Others take two or three readings before deciding which one best represents that measurement session.
BPSee is designed to respect those existing habits rather than change them.
Instead of automatically recording every measurement, BPSee allows users to review the recognized readings and decide which one becomes part of their long-term blood pressure history.
The decision remains with the user.

After a measurement, BPSee recognizes the readings directly from the monitor display.
Recognition is performed entirely on the device (read our on-device privacy architecture) and does not require an Internet connection. Blood pressure monitor images are not uploaded to remote AI services for recognition.
Before anything is saved, users review the recognized values.
At the same time, BPSee automatically creates a cropped image containing only the display area of the blood pressure monitor.
This cropped image serves as a visual record of the measurement. It allows users to verify the recognized readings immediately and provides supporting evidence that can be reviewed later or shared with healthcare professionals.
Only the display area is retained. The surrounding environment, nearby objects, and other unnecessary image content are intentionally excluded to help protect personal privacy.
The cropped image remains under the user’s control.

Once the readings have been reviewed, users decide whether to save them.
Each saved record may include:

  • Blood pressure readings
  • Pulse
  • Measurement date and time
  • Measurement conditions
  • Measurement schedule
  • A cropped image of the monitor display
    Every saved record combines structured measurement data with visual confirmation of the original reading, helping improve confidence in the accuracy and integrity of the record.

Over time, individual records become a chronological blood pressure history.
Users can review previous measurements and generate physician reports (or create an online free printable blood pressure log PDF) that combine numerical readings with their corresponding display images.
The display image is not intended to replace the numerical record. Instead, it serves as supporting evidence that helps users verify past records and gives healthcare professionals additional confidence in the recorded values.

BPSee follows a local-first design.
Blood pressure records and display images are stored on the user’s device.
If users choose to enable Apple Health integration, blood pressure data can be synchronized with Apple Health.
Users may also choose to back up their records using Apple’s private iCloud database. This optional backup helps protect against accidental data loss while keeping the data associated with the user’s personal iCloud account.
Synchronization and backup are always optional and remain under the user’s control.

Technology should make recording easier—not change how people measure blood pressure.
Patients should remain free to decide which measurements become part of their long-term record.
Reliable health records should be supported by trustworthy evidence while respecting personal privacy.
And personal health data should remain under the patient’s control.
